Barfresh Beverage Systems and Jesters Pies have signed an agreement to bring fresh low-fat smoothies to the pie chain.
The agreement will essentially see Barfresh providing Jesters franchisors the option to offer its customers an in-house juice bar product for zero start-up cost. Barfresh will provide a ‘total smoothie solution’: a product, training for company, and franchise staff and blenders free on loan. This is to allow for a high uptake of the product across groups such the Jesters chain.
In keeping with the notion of serving time-poor customers, Australian-owned Barfresh has developed an innovative method to make its Smoo Smoothies, by using individually packaged and pre-portioned ingredients including real fruit pieces, low fat yogurt or sorbet and ice cubes. Using a single Smoo pack and Smoo juice, a freshly made smoothie takes less than a minute to make and serve.
The process eliminates the time needed to peel and cut fruit and, as each pre-packaged portion contains exactly one serve and the same ingredient ratios, waste is eliminated.
“Barfresh allows franchisees to provide juice bar products to their customers in a quick, easy and profitable way,” said Riccardo Delle Coste, MD of Barfresh.
Jesters said the move comes to cater to time-poor customers, providing a convenient and healthy smoothie alternative with a product that doesn’t keep them waiting.
“We were looking to add a smoothie product to our menu and satisfy our customers that were looking for healthier alternatives,” said Dominic Panetta, national marketing manager at Jesters.
“Barfresh offers a product… which allows our stores to deliver juice bar quality smoothies. The operational process for these smoothies is seamless and so far has been well received by our customers”.
Panetta said that from a franchisor’s perspective, Jesters seeks to ensure product consistency and easy to prepare high quality products.
“Barfresh ticks these boxes for Jesters with their portion controlled smoothies packs,” he said.
The Barfresh smoothies will be available at more than 60 Jesters outlets in NSW, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia.
The low-fat smoothies are available in six flavours: Mango, Strawberry, Banana, Tropical, Cookies & Cream and Chocolate. Barfresh has also launched its new dairy-free, 99% cent fat-free sorbet range which comes in Mango Delight, Mixed Berry and Caribbean flavours.
Barfresh is also offering free marketing support and a free-on-loan commercial blender to all retailers who sell Smoo Smoothies. The blenders are pre-programmed for Smoo Smoothies.
