Gloria Jean’s Coffee has been named the Food Franchisor of the Year 2007 at the PricewaterhouseCoopers Excellence in Franchising Awards.
“It is a great honour to receive this prestigious Award which not only recognises the Gloria Jean’s Coffees support office team who have done a fantastic job, but also our wonderful franchise partners who deliver the Gloria Jean’s Coffees experience to every guest every day,” said Ian Martin, group chief executive of Gloria Jean’s Coffees.
Martin said that the year had been another major milestone for the company, with significant investments being made to its business structure and franchise systems which directly resulted in both increased sales and profitability in 2006-07.
“We have continued to bring our brand closer to our guests opening 75 stores in Australia and an additional 80 internationally,” he said.
In the last year, Gloria Jean’s Coffees has implemented a range of initiatives to provide benefits to franchise partners including investment in brand market research and creating new marketing strategies, TV advertising and promotions.
The company has also developed a new operations platform with tools, systems and training facilities including a new global e-learning platform, “GLORIA”, and launched a new global supply chain network to improve speed of distribution and reduce franchise partner stock holding, across its network.
Gloria Jean’s Coffees currently has 773 stores in 26 countries worldwide, and has signed master franchise agreements in an additional 24 countries. There are 285 Gloria Jean’s Coffees franchise partners operating 429 stores in the Australian market alone.
